UMAC

The Uganda  Muslim Association of Canada (UMAC) is a charitable, religious organisation, composed of Muslims and non-muslims who seek to bring together  brothers and sisters living in Canada and abroad to encourage them to develop their faith, to interpret life from a religious perspective, to commit to their God, and to develop traits of proper character and service and to encourage Islamic and non-islamic oriented social activities in settings such as seminars, conferences, forums, etc. through which members can meet, grow and gain strength.

The primary activity of this organization 

Is to bring  Muslims and non- Muslims together for dialogue while giving back in our community and also by holding prayers ,celebrating religious festivities, spiritual support as one.

UGANDA MUSLIMS ASSOCIATION OF CANADA

1.Streamline communication between and among our local and national organizations.

2. Build a laser focused, consensus based national vision.

3. Cooperate in mobilizing the Muslim population of our local community and that of our fellow Canadians for the good of all.

We provide immediate solutions and  respond to hunger crisis affecting different societies both muslim and non-muslim and also  restore dignity, health, opportunity and give  hope to people living in poverty. Our mission is to change lives in the communities we serve by feeding the hungry today, and building a healthy, hunger-free community.

OUR OBJECTIVES

  • Fostering community cohesion among Muslims and non-muslims of Ugandan origin in Canada

  • Empower members to continuously improve their social welfare.

  • To promote a healthy community through appropriate education and advice on preservation and maintenance of good health and well being.

  • The advancement of education and vocational training for self-development and personal fulfillment to all the members of the Association.

  • To provide emotional support, counselling, advocacy and mentoring to those in need.

  • To provide facilities in the interest of social well being for recreation and other leisure time activities for all age groups.

  • Providing services as appropriate to the needs of the society as possible, and sustain all of the above objectives with the aim of meeting changing needs.

HOW WE WORK

Providing training, advocacy and support to members with the aim of tackling socio-economic issues, education and unemployment and issues.

Engagement in interfaith networks and other strategic working groups to support policy development and implementation

Directly work with families and the youth on social issues and respect of the “Law”.Working closely with local authorities and other organisations to raise awareness of community health issues.
