    ​ The Uganda Muslim Association of Canada (UMAC) is a charitable, religious organisation, composed of Muslims and non-muslims who seek to bring together brothers and sisters living in Canada and abroad to encourage them to develop their faith, to interpret life from a religious perspective, to commit to their God, and to develop traits of proper character and service and to encourage Islamic and non-islamic oriented social activities in settings such as seminars, conferences, forums, etc. through which members can meet, grow and gain strength. One of the primary goals of UMAC is to encourage its members’ belief, social, cultural, economic, and intellectual development. ABOUT US Our Work Our programs include food assistance through our food bank and free meals, as well as physical and mental health support programs, nutrition education, spiritual support system, soccer programms and more. We partner with different organizations to serve different peoples of different societies ​ Our Mission We provide immediate solutions and respond to hunger crisis affecting different societies both moslem and non-moslem and also restore dignity, health, opportunity and. give hope to people living in poverty. Our mission is to change lives in the communities we serve by feeding the hungry today, and building a healthy, hunger-free community. OUR OBJECTIVES Fostering community cohesion among Muslims of Ugandan origin in the United Kingdom. Empower members to continuously improve their social welfare. To promote a healthy community through appropriate education and advice on preservation and maintenance of good health and well being. The advancement of education and vocational training for self-development and personal fulfillment to all the members of the Association. To provide emotional support, counselling, advocacy and mentoring to those in need. To provide facilities in the interest of social well being for recreation and other leisure time activities for all age groups. Providing services as appropriate to the needs of the society as possible, and sustain all of the above objectives with the aim of meeting changing needs. HOW WE WORK Working closely with local authorities and other organisations to raise awareness of community health issues. Organise seminars, conferences, workshops to educate and inform members on issues related to their needs. Empowering members to participate inter-community initiatives. Providing training, advocacy and support to members with the aim of tackling socio-economic issues, education and unemployment and issues. Engagement in interfaith networks and other strategic working groups to support policy development and implementation Directly work with families and the youth on social issues and respect of the “Law”. OUR MAIN FOCUS Streamline communication between and among our local and national organizations. Our Focus is to Build a laser-focused, consensus-based national vision. Cooperate in mobilizing the Muslim population of our local community and that of our fellow Canadians for the good of all. OUR STRATEGY Our Strategy here at UMAC is to provide comprehensive educational programs, and systems for families, the youth, working professionals, and seniors. ​ Over the years, we have seen the size of our Muslim Community and Ugandans at large grow amazingly, Alhamdulillah ( by the will of God). During this time of growth, Our Community has lacked adequate space, preventing us from offering programs that our community need directly; Therefore we are glad and we will make sure that our Center is safe for both Muslims and Non-Muslims thus it will help us in fulfilling and catering to the growth of our dreams and the future.
